1. What is something not too many people know about you?
That my background is actually in filmmaking and cinematography. I received my degree in Moving Image Arts from Santa Fe University of Art and Design many years ago and it has served as a creative path into my photography. I approach editorials like I would a scene, and I light based on character and mood. I feel that it has given me an advantage in really being able to hone my voice for the images I create, but also it explains the diversity in my portfolio.
2. What are your biggest passions?
Fashion photography and light painting would be the two that come to mind every time. I love each season seeing this explosion of creativity and expression from some brands I really connect with and stories come to mind that I can’t wait to tell. Before you know it I’m out doing another session. Light painting, with long exposure it’s always been a great exercise in composition and interaction with the model. I really get excited with the process and not having the knowledge of how its going to turn out. I find it never gets old.
3. What are your goals for the future?
I have several, but my top three would be to creatively work with Hunger Magazine and W Magazine as a contributor. I love what they represent, the work they produce and I've always found love and comfort in their magazines. My second would be to work seamlessly as a photographer and director for top brand campaigns. From the designers concept to the final image, being able to craft that story and imagery across the mediums sounds like my kind of heaven.
4. What is your definition of success?
The moment when you are working with a team who are just as passionate as yourself on something you're passionate about. I fee that moment is what resonates with me. I can't say it would be completing this task or creating this project because you can accomplish those in a setting that maybe would not be ideal, but if its something you care about and your team is on the same page I think that can make any and every project a success.
5. Tell us something about the projects you're working on.
I've just made the move to a new city! New agencies, new talent and so many creatives to work with you can imagine I'm letting my creativity fly. I have a look book to photograph near end of summer and I'm working to produce editorials for this fall season. I'd like to incorporate more light painting into the productions and add more video work to each photo production. I've been blessed to have met so many talented individuals already, so now it's all about finding that next story to tell!
