1. What is something not too many people know about you?
Not too many people know that the culinary arts is where my true passion lies. I have been cooking for 20+ years and it continues to bring me great satisfaction as well as a good living. Photography has been much more of a hobby and an opportunity to learn something I previously knew nothing about. I have only owned a DSLR for a couple of years now but it has quickly become something I spend all of my free time consumed with.
2. What are your biggest passions?
I have a passion for working with my hands. I have found cooking, gardening and now photography to be extremely satisfying in many ways. The steps and processes it takes in each discipline all result in the quality of the finished product. I enjoy thoughtfully planning out a dish, or a flower, or a shot and then seeing it through to its completion. This usually brings about a sense of accomplishment and gratification and almost always includes another person which makes all of it that much more meaningful.
3. What are your goals for the future?
In the future I would like to create a collective of like-minded people that can meet regularly and exchange ideas and skills. There are many groups and meets and things going on, but the skill level and passion does not always come with it. I would like to be able to bring serious hobbyists together to help each other. I would also like to see an app created that would help photographers find locations that they are welcome to shoot in.
4. What is your definition of success?
Success for me is something unattainable and almost mythical. If I were to stop and try to quantify my success, I would not be successful. Success is something people can debate until the end of time. I enjoy doing the things that I do the way I do them. Finding the time and knowing exactly what allows for me to do that is a success. What someone considers the outcome of my efforts to be is not my ultimate goal. Its knowing that I did what I did to the best of my ability.
5. Tell us something about the projects you're working on.
I am currently focusing on working with more experienced models. I would like to see how my skills are when working with people who have shot with “professional” photographers, or who have been published. This should give me a baseline of where I need to focus my efforts to continue to hone my skills as a photographer
