1. What is something not too many people know about you?
Photography is just a hobby for me. My main "thing" is actually directing a narrative live-action fantasy series for kids! Our YouTube channel "Life as a Mermaid" is currently at 170k subscribers and more than 50 million views. I created the show because I'm passionate about keeping the oceans safe and because I love fantasy content - which is also reflected in my photography!
2. What are your biggest passions or hobbies?
My passion is social psychology. I love thinking about how people work and understanding mental cause-and-effect and having unique conversations. I believe that technology and especially social media are causing us all to be a bit tunnel-visioned in everyday life and often not see past ourselves... so I try to spread intellectual and emotional empathy in my group of friends. I believe that nobody should have to deal with their problems alone.
3. What are your goals for the future?
Most people would say that they want to make their creative passion their job, but I feel the opposite. I've been day trading stocks for almost a year and would like to turn that into my only income source to be able to do all my creative work purely as a hobby! I feel like including finances and clients in photography or filmmaking changes the process for me in a negative way.
4. What is your definition of success?
I believe success is creating your own set of values and pursuing them. My top values are empathy and freedom... I mentioned empathy earlier, but "freedom" to me means being able to decide to leave the country spontaneously, not work for a week, choose which projects to work on, etc.
5. Tell us something about the projects you're working on.
My Instagram feed works in 3x3 brackets, meaning I choose a new color palette every 9 shots so that when you scroll through the feed there is a rainbow color progression! So currently I'm working on my next bracket which is a very fairytale-inspired violet set with some slightly surreal concepts and effects.
