1. What is something not too many people know about you?
I’m a pretty open book, and am perhaps a little too open on social media! However, I feel like no one (including me) talks about the back-end work that goes into a job like mine. The front-end is easy to present: photos, hanging out with rockstars, free concert tickets, etc. But a lot of my job is sending a million emails a day, being told no, and staying up way too late writing and editing. Don’t get me wrong, it’s all worth it in the end, but it’s silly to believe that these opportunities just walk into my life.
2. What are your biggest passions or hobbies?
I’m incredibly lucky— my hobby became my job! I work primarily as a concert and tour photographer for bands, along with portraits and weddings on the side. Photography and music have touched nearly every aspect of my life, which makes me really fortunate!
3. What are your goals for the future?
I’d like to spend as much time touring as possible. It’s my absolute favorite thing to do, and I feel as though I create my best work while I’m surrounded by other artists. Eventually, I’d love to work as a house photographer for a venue, but for now, I’m just trying to be out on the road as much as I can!
4. What is your definition of success?
For me, success is more about a feeling than it is reaching specific milestones. I feel the most successful when I want to tell 15-year-old me what I’m up to. I get sappy on social media a lot— especially recently— because I’ve had a lot of time to reflect on the struggles I’ve been through in the past, and my progress means a lot more when I consider where I came from.
5. Tell us something about the projects you're working on.
I actually just got home from a European tour with a band called Doll Skin. They’re all-female and crazy talented, and I was honored to get to know them as professionals and as friends throughout the run. This summer, I’ll be joining them as their photographer on the full run of Warped Tour. I’ll also be doing a secondary project that I’ll be using as my thesis for my schooling. I’m trying to get some creative projects in the works, but for now, I’m recuperating from this run and getting geared up for Warped!
