1. What is something not too many people know about you?
Not too many people know I’m an introvert - they assume since I’m an educator and behind the chair that I am the opposite!
2. What are your biggest passions or hobbies?
Biggest Passions and hobbies: I love health and working out, coffee, wine, good food and time with my family and friends. The little things are my greatest passions: the smell of the air, sunlight, the color of the sky. It’s cliche but I love travel and different perspectives/cultures.
3. What are your goals for the future?
Goals: they are near and far! One underlining goal is similar to the never-ending process of halving a number. If you halve the number 1, you have 0.5. If you halve that, 0.25. And so on, for infinity because you can never reach an end. Similarly in hair and hair dressing- I am energized by the continual aim to refine what I know and how I handle hair. I will never “arrive” but will constantly get closer!
4. What is your definition of success?
I have always said success is doing the things that make you come alive.
5. Tell us something about the projects you’re working on.
I am working on two projects right now- one is something I require everyone in my salon to do- it’s an international color contest where we each interpret an idea on hair. I love it because interpretation is art in that everyone is so different! Another one that I am really excited about is I am working with the student- led editorial magazine of Duke University. I am inspired by the way they approach fashion and beauty as they come from all parts of this earth and they bring such unique and progressive ideas to our area.
