1. What is something not too many people know about you?
When one looks at my body of work, they tend to think that I am this confident woman who’s comfortable in her own body and wants women everywhere to feel the same way. Little do they know is I started this long going project as a way to learn how to love and accept my own body. By hearing other women’s stories and using them, other models, or myself, I was able to take their feeling and translate it into a visual story through a photograph. Hearing how horribly us as women talk about ourselves makes you realize that we all have insecurities and instead of bringing each other down, we should build each other up.
2. What are your biggest passions or hobbies?
Photography of course! There’s something about capturing a moment in time and freezing it. My love for it all started thanks to my mother. She has baby albums of both my brother and I, and we always looked through them as kids. At times when I go visit her, we would take them out and look through them. Those albums are always there for us to look back in time and reminisce.
3. What are your goals for the future?
Here’s my list in no particular order: - Have one of my projects go viral. - Become the photo editor of a top fashion magazine and choose pics out of the norm - Photo document a life altering event
4. What is your definition of success?
My definition of success is short and simple: Find your true happiness!
5. Tell us something about the projects you're working on.
The “Women’s Skewed Perception” project which I described in the 1st response is an ongoing project, but I am starting a new one called “The Break Room” with my colleague Gladys Medaglia who is also a photographer. This project would show individuals both women and men, in one of the most intimate places in their homes, the bathroom. The bathroom is the first place we see our reflections in the morning, the place we go to when we need a break from our loved ones, the place most of us cry in when we don’t want others to see, and much more. We are excited to see what comes out of this project and how the images turn out. Portfolio: www.danildaizquierdophotography.com
