1. What is something not too many people know about you?
When I was younger, I used to love watching and singing along to different TV specials and musicals. My grandma has a collection of these Paris by Night tapes, which is a Vietnamese variety show and I knew all of the words by heart, even though I wasn't sure what any of them actually meant in English haha. Oh and Cats the Musical! I knew ALL the choreography and lyrics by heart considering I watched the VHS tape about 3 times a day when I was about 4-5. Thanks to my dad for putting up with all of my singing and dancing hahaha.
2. What are your biggest passions or hobbies?
Oh man, haha there's a lot. So I've been an urban/street dancer for about 12+ years now and just about almost a year ago started my journey in photography. I love that through these mediums I am able to find a voice and power in my own identity and express that to others, while also inspiring others and making them feel good about themselves. I am also passionate about living a happy and healthy lifestyle and have recently decided to make positive changes to my exercise and eating habits. I also love traveling and seeing what else is out there!
3. What are your goals for the future?
Well, I'm currently at school so to obtain my Bachelor's as I'm wanting to work in healthcare. I also intend to become a better and more confident dancer. With that, I will find ways to help push myself within the hip hop culture and to cultivate my true identity within the hip hop community in AZ. In terms of my photography, I'm hoping that I will continue to network with other creatives and to work on some awesome and creative content to put out to the world, while building up my skillset.
4. What is your definition of success?
Success to me is saying you've made a positive impact in some way shape or form, no matter how big or small. Success is when I see a sort of cycle or continuum that doesn't stop once you obtain a certain goal. You can never get too comfortable with it, because it's something to always be working for. Now, if I am able to say that I inspire others to be themselves unapologetically and to go after what they want with full intention and happiness, then I must say I'm doing a pretty dang good job at being successful.
5. Tell us something about the projects you're working on.
At the moment, I don't have many specific projects, but I am working towards building a website for my photography portfolio and I've got a few ideas for photo series that I want to bring to fruition (stay tuned!). In terms of dance, I will be competing with my dance crew, Jukebox Family at the end of next month! I also plan on getting back into battling at jams and involving myself more with sessions to get back on my game this summer!
