1. What is something not too many people know about you?
It's kind of funny, especially being that I'm a total girly-girl at heart! When I was growing up I loved everything considered "non-girl related". I loved climbing trees, riding four wheelers and dirt bikes and of course playing in the dirt. I'm originally from Hickory, North Carolina; the sticks. When you're from the country, playing outside is conventional. It's almost unnatural to play indoors. However, I really enjoyed playing sports growing up as well. My favorite sport was softball. I played shortstop for 7 years and I fell in love with the sport itself. We were unbeatable! We made it all the way to the championship and seasonal conference and won!. After those 7-years of great memories, I turned my focus to fashion.
2. What are your biggest passions or hobbies?
I really enjoy art! If there's any way I can be creative, I'm all about it! I consider myself an all-around artist because I paint, draw, sketch, design and so much more. I really enjoy spending my time painting and dabbling in the artistry of makeup. I swear there are times I get lost in my creativity. That's when my best work of art comes to life!
3. What are your goals for the future?
I want to be a platform for women of color. There are so many incidents where I've been looked past for certain shoots due to the color complexion of my skin. I also want to inspire young men and women to feel beautiful and comfortable in their own skin through fashion. I've learned with my own insecurities, throwing on a cute pair of jeans or detailed top with a statement piece makes me feel unstoppable. I'd also love to travel internationally, considering I've never really been anywhere besides Miami, Puerto Rico, New York and Atlanta. Lastly, I'd love to provide my mother with everything she's ever desired because she's been my number one supporter throughout my career.
4. What is your definition of success?
I think the definition of success honestly has a wide range of meanings. Whether it stems from money, job, relationship status, or family. When someone generally only thinks about money, their success is measured in dollar signs and usually for someone who is career driven their success is measured by a job title. However, my definition of success is measured by how happy you are in life.
5. Tell us something about the projects you're working on.
So, I was inspired by a Netflix Original to start a project with a good friend of mine. She had already been running a business of her own and I thought she'd be a great contribution to my idea. However, I can't really talk about the project at the moment because it's a secret but stay tuned!
