1. What is something not too many people know about you?
I don't think that a lot of people know that I am engaged, getting married this summer actually! Super stoked! I also don't think they know that I was actually a graphic designer before I made photography into a business, and I didn't actually realize that photography was my real passion until later in life when I was going to school for design.
2. What are your biggest passions or hobbies?
I believe my biggest passion is people. Photography is so much more than just taking photos for an hour or two with a client who is paying you. It's truly about getting to know someone’s biggest passions and fears and capturing who they are as a person, which I believe you can only do if you take the time to get to know them on a personal level. I think when you take the time out of your day to get to know someone and learn about their life and the different struggles they've been through, you can connect more with them and maybe even brighten their day. I like to say Photographers are therapists, best friends, maids of honor, and best men. We often find ourselves being the Bride's friend throughout her stressful day, or the timid seniors biggest fan during their session. You have to love people to do this job, and I certainly do!
3. What are your goals for the future?
My goals for the future are to live my life as happily as possible and to always do jobs that are fulfilling in not just a financial way. Photography can be great income, but it brings me joy beyond just the money. The people I meet, the stories I get to hear about and be a part of with my clients, and the joy of getting to work with people to photograph and capture the best versions of themselves brings me joy. I've had Clients cry when they received their galleries from me because they loved their photos so much, and that brings me joy. It makes me feel like I'm putting out the best version of me into the world and making a difference, even if it is small.
4. What is your definition of success?
My definition of success is happiness. Money can only get you so far, but happiness will never run dry. If I'm doing my best work, and loving my life and the people in it, I am successful.
5. Tell us something about the projects you're currently working on.
Currently I'm working on some different top secret projects getting ready for spring and summer... I have a sense of humor so that will play into my next styled shoot. ;) Other than that, I am preparing for wedding season and a wedding showcase in March, as well as my EFP Seniors for the Spring and Summer!
