1. What is something not too many people know about you?
Before I got into photography, I used to have a fashion blog in high school where I documented my daily outfits and wrote about the fashion events I attended. It was a great opportunity to meet people in the fashion industry and work with a lot of fantastic photographers. It was actually the my way into photography - when I first started the blog, I would take my own outfit photos with a tripod and self-timer. Moving behind the lens, I feel that my modeling experience has made me a much better photographer. I understand how to pose and can direct my models with confidence.
2. What are your biggest passions or hobbies?
Photography is my number one priority right now - I’m taking a photography class at my university, working as a photographer for my university’s social media, and doing a lot of personal shoots on the side. Aside from that, I dabble in other creative pursuits including writing, graphic design and fashion styling. I’ve also been bitten by the travel bug since I studied abroad in London last semester. I travelled to many different places including Italy, Sweden, France, Spain and Morocco. Before I graduate this year, I plan to explore the U.S. a bit more - New Orleans, Chicago and Miami are on my list!
3. What are your goals for the future?
I hope to take my diverse skill set and apply that to a creative field, such as brand strategy. I love the idea of being able to define a brand’s story and find the best way to communicate it to the world. Outside of my career goals, I hope to develop my photography further, diversify the subjects I work with, and photograph new places.
4. What is your definition of success?
I would say that a year ago, my definition of success was securing a good corporate job and attaining financial security. My priorities have shifted a little since then. Now, I would say that success is finding a passion that gets you up in the morning, and really mastering that passion.
5. Tell us something about the projects you're currently working on.
Currently, I’m trying to develop my skills as a portrait photographer, and trying out different styles such as street, beauty and fashion photography. I’m also trying to be a more conceptual photographer, to develop more fleshed-out ideas rather than just taking pretty pictures. Watch my Instagram for more!
