1. What is something not too many people know about you?
Not too many people know that I spent most of my childhood in Africa. I lived in Zambia, South Africa, and Namibia for a total of 8 years. Whenever I'm asked where I'm from I never know quite what to say~ I was born in North Carolina but within a year we were in Zambia.
2. What are your biggest passions or hobbies?
I love expression. I've always been a very emotional person and artistic forms where that can be expressed are a huge relief for me. I love to act more than any other passion, there's nothing more surreal than living as this other human for a little while, even if it's really just a flicker of one. Maybe it will feel more like a full life with a project I have more time with, but that thought is a little scary. There's always some mourning after you're done with a character.
Other than acting I like to write and take photos, and collect inspiration. I get sort of addicted to collecting things that inspire me- books, photos, quotes, moments in movies. Modeling I enjoy too, but for the most part it's become more of a job than anything else.
3. What are your goals for the future?
This is a good question and one I don't think about too much anymore. Ultimately my goals are: make things I'm proud of, find more people who understand me and have similar visions and taste to create with, be the best I can be to the people I love, and make enough money to survive.
And I'll say be more efficient because I'm lacking in that department, haha!
4. What is your definition of success?
My definition of success is... Maybe measured by how much acceptance you have in your life. And I don't mean that you don't feel anger or passion or pain, but that you feel those things completely. I think success is being completely consumed by whatever life is offering you in any given moment... I think it's easy to get wrapped up in the human story of what suffering is, but when you take a step back you can see that we only really get to live for the tiniest most vulnerable flicker- we should try to embrace every part of it.
5. Tell us something about the projects you're currently working on.
I'm currently working on a book of self-portraits. Hopefully I'll be done in the next month or so. Trying to see if I can get it published atm. Also working on the final touches of a treatment I wrote for a fashion film that my wonderful genius boyfriend Raul Gonzo will be directing. And I'm going to be working with a very talented writer by the name of Ray Larsen on a film in the near-ish future. So I'm feeling pretty grateful :)
