Your photos are good. You’ve studied up and developed your technique. Your pictures have style, structure and pizazz. But what if they could be better? We got together with photographer Natalia Naa to talk about that one thing to remember during your next photoshoot which will make your pictures pop like never before.
Natalia started her photographer’s journey in High School. She eventually realized she was getting too comfortable with the type of pictures she was taking, so she decided to switch it up. Natalia now photographs people, but this project comes with a twist. Her pictures incorporate concepts and ideas that transports the viewer out of reality and into a realm where the fantastical reigns supreme.
The beauty behind Natalianaa, Natalia’s Instagram account, is that it brings fiction to life. Her feed contains storybook-esque works of art that is as pleasing for the soul as it is the eye. This style of photography isn’t the only skill Natalia has in her reservoir however. She is also capable of making the seemingly ordinary look spectacular as she does with various photos inspired by food and travel.
Years of developing prodigious photographical talent brought Natalia to the conclusion that you must always keep in mind the story you want to tell when taking pictures. You should have a general idea of the emotions you want to evoke and the response you’re looking to receive. Focusing on the purpose behind your shoot will lead to you dominating your photo game.
Natalia also suggests experimenting and doing what you can to escape the dreaded comfort zone. That’s her secret to how she creates such stunning content. When you finally have your shot, before darting over to Instagram to post, plan ahead by using grid planning apps like UNUM to give you an idea of what your feed will look like with your new pièce de résistance.
