You ever see a portrait that made you just stop, even if it were for a millisecond? There’s something about it. The photographer turned his camera a certain way, or the model has this prop you’ve never seen before. There’s an unnatural color, or an unexpected edit. Maybe it’s simply because the picture is just a damn good one. Sedric Acevedo’s photos have all the above.
The amount of focus he gives to the smallest details adds a flair to his shots that calls to you like the weekend after a dreadful 40 hours at work. What separates him from the rest of the instagraphers is the fact that he takes pictures for the sake of the photo itself.
He isn’t doing it to make his feed pop. Instagram is secondary. What comes first for Sedric is bringing out the beauty located in an individual piece. Naturally we had to ask him for any advice he was prepared to offer for our next shoot. He told us to keep in mind these three things.
1. Don’t overcomplicate things
2. Fall in love with those small details
3. Establish the look you’re going for before your shoot
Take it from our newfound sensei on all things photography. These are the three things you need to create photos that don’t just astound your audience, but yourself as well.
