1. What is something not too many people know about you?
Not many actually know how I became a makeup artist. It was a little over a year ago.. I was with a friend one night and asked if I could do her makeup for fun; it was a simple thought sparked by curiosity! She must have had a lot of faith in me because it was my first attempt, but we both thought it turned out pretty well! A couple of months later, I worked my first wedding and fell in love with makeup, so eventually decided to pursue it as a freelancer. It’s been a short journey so far, but I’m so thankful for the opportunities that have opened up.
2. What are your biggest passions?
Definitely creating and the arts. I love the process that goes into producing something and seeing it evolve from an idea. I think that’s why I love makeup and photo shoots so much. You sort of stand back and watch this whole team of people create something beautiful in front of you and it’s a pretty great feeling knowing you played a part in making that happen. Beyond makeup, I love learning and trying new things. Lately I’ve been experimenting with a little amateur videography and have started taking some Bachata classes for fun.
3. What are your goals for the future?
Lots of travel! I’ll be planning a tour around Europe in the coming year, which I hope will be the first of many. I’d also love to have my work published in print someday. Being able to flick through one of my favourite magazines and see my work would be amazing!
4. What is your definition of success
Being confident and secure in your own path and journey is so important. If you can wake up everyday with joy, intention and faith in whatever you’re doing, regardless of the outcome, you’re still killing it. There’s this Greek word I love; ‘meraki’, which loosely translated means to put your whole self into what you’re doing with creativity, love and soul. I think that’s what this is all about at the end of the day.
5. Tell us something about the projects you're working on.
Recently, I worked on a bridal editorial in the Yarra Valley where I collaborated with a huge team of creatives in the wedding and events industry. The photos will be my first online publication under my own brand, which will feature in Ivory Tribe end of the month. I’m pretty excited about that! I’m also at the beginning stages of designing my website, which is due to launch before the end of the year.
