It’s unexpected. When you end up somewhere with a clear goal in mind, an objective, and someone’s random act of kindness manages to take you out of your tunnel vision, it’s unexpected.
Upon entering store 5885, there’s one thing that is immediately apparent. Actually it’s more like one person. Vanessa, the manager of this particular Starbucks, seems to be in 5 places at once. It’s a spectacle how she moves as fast as she does. There’s one other thing. She’s smiling, constantly. Her bubbly nature establishes her presence in the store, but it also does something else. It seeps its way into the other employees until everyone in the coffee shop, customers included, are full of good will and contentment.
For us, it’s rare to see someone’s inherent goodness pour out of them automatically without a second thought. To experience it first-hand, well, how could we not write about it? I had been working on my computer at one of the tables for not longer than 5 minutes before Vanessa came over, introduced herself and offered to keep me company. Fast forward an hour and I now know her life’s story, her goals, her passions, and the contents of her heart. You can’t put a value on moments like this.
