1) How did you become a Couch Girl of the Week?
I met Shawn through a mutual friend. I've always loved to connect with creatives.
2) Tell us something weird about you.
Hmmm. When I was in high school I wrote fanfics and posted them in online forums. Fanfics are fictional stories stories involving celebrities or fictional characters. Sometimes involving different fictional characters in one story. Example: a romantic comedy between Harry Potter and Princess Elsa in a high school setting. Some people would consider fanfics as weird and nerdy.
3) What's the last picture you took with your phone?
The last picture I took on my phone is of my puppy Lulu sleeping on the couch. English bulldog makes taking a nap look like the best thing in life.
4) What's the last thing that made you laugh so hard tears came to your eyes?
The last thing that made me laugh really hard was my coworker at work who tried to stuff a piece of hot bread into his mouth before our boss saw him, but since it was extremely hot he ended up juggling the bread in his mouth to relieve the pain . This resulted in the food dangling with saliva halfway out of his mouth. I don't know why, but I laughed so hard I was crying.
5) What's your favorite tv show?
My current favorite tv show binge would be The Originals. It's a story about the first vampires, which are 3 sibling, and it goes through their journey as they find what family means. They have to learn to coexist with witches, werewolves, and humans.
6) If your life was a tv show what would it be called?
If my life was a tv show it would be called Love Yours. Since I was younger I was always in love. In love with art, drawing, people, but as I got older I realized the very meaning of love: it's what you do for people and what they do for you. I learned a lot about self-love, mother-daughter love, romantic love, family love, and love for one another. I've grown a lot and I feel like no matter how many turns life takes me on, it always comes back around to love and loving what's yours. Plus I'm a big J. Cole fan.
7) If you could choose anyone to be stuck in an elevator with, who would it be?
I would love to be stuck in an elevator with Alexander McQueen, one of the greatest fashion designers of all time. Unfortunately, McQueen passed away when I was attending fashion school in LA, so I never got an opportunity to meet him, but I would love to pick his brain.
8) Talk about a current project you're working on.
My current project I'm working on for Laila Lupe is our holiday collection and shipping everything out in time for Christmas. After the holiday, we will be releasing some printed tees and I'm currently hand drawing the illustrations for those.
9) Where can people find you on social media?
Thank you for having me. It has been a great opportunity to connect with passionate creatives. If you're curious about what I do, you can find Laila Lupe on:
